Engaged Citizen Experience

Technology and Democracy: Dialogue and Dissent

Feb. 17, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.; Feb. 18, 9:00 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Parents Hall, Olmsted Center

An examination of the impact of changing technology on democratic practices. Friday evening will focus on technology’s role in the Arab Spring Revolution in Egypt with keynote presentations from two Egyptian nationals.

Saturday will be devoted to breakout sessions for participants that will examine topics related to Friday evening and technology and democratic practices more broadly, including sessions on technology and democratic elections, environmental degradation, cyberbullying, and surveillance, and one session related directly to Friday evening’s session. A mid-morning snack and lunch will be provided.
