The Quartet Project
- During the spring of 2009 DUCSOM launched The Quartet Project, a two-year program focusing on a collection of new works for string quartet by composer Geoffrey Hudson.
- The Quartet Project is a collaborative endeavor with composer and other national partner schools.
- Third Street Music School Settlement (the oldest community music school in the U.S.)
- Manhattan School of Music’s pre-college division
- Community Music Works (Providence)
- Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra (Grand Forks, ND)
- Indian Hill Music (Littleton, MA)
- MacPhail Center for Music (Minneapolis).
- It offers students and their teachers a first-hand opportunity to be involved in the creation of a collection of new string quartet works.
- Quartets will begin rehearsals in the spring 2010 semester; Geoffrey Hudson’s residency is scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2010.
- Membership is by invitation. Preference is given to established DUCSOM string chamber music ensembles.
