Jeff Jensen, Teaching Artist of double bass at Drake University, has taught and played professionally for more than 30 years. He has performed with many orchestras, including the San Francisco Opera orchestra, San Jose Symphony, Oakland Symphony, Marin Symphony, Des Moines Symphony, and Des Moines Metro Opera. Mr. Jensen received his BM degree (performance) from Drake before studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His MA in music education is also from Drake.

Jeff’s primary bass teachers were S. Charles Siani (principal, San Francisco Opera and Symphony) and John Ehrlich (Drake). He also studied with Eugene Levinson (principal, New York Philharmonic) and Steven Tromontozzi (San Francisco Symphony). Before moving to Iowa, Mr. Jensen was associate publisher of Strings Magazine, based in San Rafael, CA.

In addition to teaching bass at Drake, Mr. Jensen is a strings teacher in the Des Moines Public Schools.
