Robert Meunier

Robert Meunier

Robert Meunier, director of bands and professor of percussion at Drake University, was invited to join the prestigious American Bandmasters Association this spring. Election to the American Bandmasters Association is among the greatest honors that can be awarded to members of the band conducting profession.

Meunier has served as a member of the Drake music faculty since 1985 and became director of bands in 1987. He is in demand as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the United States. Meunier is the founder of the Drake University Wind Symphony that, since its inception in 1998, has received national recognition for excellence in live performance and recordings.

The American Bandmasters Association was founded in 1928. Current membership is by invitation only and comprises approximately 300 band conductors and composers in the U.S. and Canada. The objectives of the American Bandmasters Association include the recognition of outstanding achievement in the field of concert band and its music, an increasingly higher standard of artistic excellence for the concert band, its performers, conductors, and literature, and a consistently greater contribution through the concert band to the musical life and culture of all peoples.
