Recent Events

Holiday Breakfast

At the Human Resources Holiday Breakfast,  the All Staff Council gathered 3 bags full of gloves, mittens, hats, scarves and coats and $80 in donations (to purchase more items) that will be given to the Des Moines Public Schools. We know the school nurses appreciate having available items to give to children in need.  Thank you for your generosity and spreading holiday cheer!

Join Drake Dining for the Thanksgiving Grand Buffet!!!
Date: 11/17/2011
Time: 11:00a.m. - 1:30p.m.
Location: Upper Olmsted and Parents Hall
Meal Price: 1 Board Meal or $7.25 plus tax for cash, credit, Flex Dollars or Bulldog Bucks

Menu:

The menu will contain numerous Thanksgiving classics, such as, roasted turkey, glazed ham, roasted vegetables, sweet potatoes, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin and pecan pie, and both chocolate and carrot cake.

In collaboration with Drake Dining, the All Staff Special Events/Community Service Committee will be collecting non-perishable items for the Food Bank of Iowa. We will collect your donation on your way in to feast.

 

ASC 2011 Pumpkin Palooza:

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Pumpkin Palooza event.

We were able to donate a tote full of personal care/food items to the Iowa Homeless Youth Center

 

Congratulations to the following prize winners in the Pumpkin Chunkin' Contest:

Larry Cox – Most destructive (President Maxwell was a close 2nd)

Mary Sanders – Closest

Diance Spahr – Farthest

 

In a separate contest, the President’s Office pumpkin won best carved pumpkin!  It was a tight race with a tied vote that had to be broken by the vote of a passing student!  The traveling pumpkin trophy is now in 211 Old Main until next year’s contest.  Will they keep it?

June 2010: Seventh Annual Drake Mini-Golf.

University employees enjoyed miniature golfing at holes designed by offices and departments across campus. View the photo gallery from the event.

April 2010: Best in Show.

Winners of the monthly SPOTlight Award were honored at a campus-wide celebration, and Mary Middleton was named Best in Show. Click here for more photos of the event.

 

February 2010: Beat the Winter Blues Pep Rally.

Staff gathered prior to the Hoops 4 Hope women's basketball game for a pep rally and breast cancer awareness fundraiser. Attendees received pink shirts, and donors were encouraged to wear jeans as part of Wear Your Blues Friday.

December 2009: Des Moines Public Schools Circle of Support Winter Wear Collection.

Those attending the employee holiday breakfast were encouraged to bring mittens, hats, and other winter gear to donate. Four bins of items and $110 were collected for the DMPS Circle of Support. Click here for more photos of the event.

November 2009: DMARC Non-Perishable Food Collection.

Approximately 157 food items and over $81 were collected at the Thanksgiving buffet. Click here for more photos of the event.

October 2009: Pumpkin Palooza.

Faculty and staff enjoyed a festive fall lunch at Hubbell and donated 73 non-perishable food items and $16 in cash for the DMARC food pantry. Participants received an entry into prize drawings and a discounted meal price. View more photos in the gallery.
