LaRhee Henderson is an associate professor of Chemistry and chair of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology. She grew up on a small rural town in northwest Iowa and received her BS with a major in Chemistry from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.

She then studied alanine racemase and received her PhD from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska. Professor Henderson's postdoctoral research focused on carnitine metabolism and was conducted at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul, Minnesota. As a research associate at Washington University, St Louis, Missouri, she isolated and characterized estradiol dehydrogenase.

Professor Henderson has been a professor in the Chemistry department at Drake since 1983. She teaches general chemistry, biochemistry, advanced biochemistry, introduction to molecular sciences and professional development. Her research experience has been in enzymology and biochemical education.
