Q. How do I change my major?
A. The earlier you make the decision to change your major, the more time you will have to ensure you graduate in four years. The Drake Curriculum AOI’s allow for some flexibility in each program’s curriculum. However, each major has its own unique requirements, therefore you will want to research the requirements of your new major. You should set up a meeting with the department of your new major to learn about the requirements and create a curriculum guide for your new program. We also suggest you set up a meeting with your Academic Advisor to discuss your career aspirations, the majors you are considering, etc. Once you have made a decision, you will complete an Intra-University Transfer form, which found in the College Office.
Q. How do I declare a minor?
A. Drake University has established departmental requirements for academic minors. Students who earn academic minors will have theses credentials recorded on their diplomas and on their transcripts. Pharmacy students, based on catalog regulations, should be able to earn a minor in a different discipline without expanding the hours required for graduation. For information regarding minors and the requirements for a minor visit the departmental website or http://www.drake.edu/admission/ugrad/about/majors/. Students interested in pursuing an academic minor should coordinate their coursework with the appropriate departmental chair. Academic minor forms must be completed by the student pursuing the minor and filed with the appropriate College or School for a minor to be added to their transcript.
