Login to Learn - An E-Journal Club for Pharmacists

and an Excellent Educational Tool for Preceptors!

A live webcast CE program discussing clinical reviews and primary literature, meeting online at NOON on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.

This program is offered every month and is presented and monitored by various faculty members from area colleges of pharmacy, including both Drake University and the University of Iowa. The programs are sponsored and implemented by the Collaborative Education Institute (CEI), an educational partnership between Drake University, the University of Iowa and the Iowa Pharmacy Foundation. Pharmacists and student pharmacists who participate in this e-journal club will critically evaluate a different journal article that discusses a new drug or breakthrough clinical trial each month. Participants will read the article before the live web cast session and reflect on key points that will be provided to them. The live session will discuss the article and provide an opportunity for discussion about its relevance in pharmacy practice.

The program offers many benefits:

  • Articles are researched and selected for you
  • Structured to enhance discussion between you and your student throughout the month
  • Materials are provided, including reflection questions to be completed prior to the live program
  • Live session provides expert monitors with the opportunity to engage in discussion with other pharmacists
  • CE (2 hours) for you and an interactive advanced learning opportunity for your students

By registering yourself, your students can participate in the program with you at no additional charge. This is an excellent way for you to incorporate additional education into your rotation and to teach the students the importance of ongoing education with regards to new medical information and trends while obtaining CE credit for yourself! Visit the CEI website to get additional registration details and a list of upcoming article opportunities at www.theceinstitute.org/Log-InToLearn.aspx or contact CEI at admin@theceinstitute.org.
