Residencies


Drake is affiliated with two residency programs:

Drake - Mercy Medical Center Residency Program:
Residency Special Features:   The pharmacy practice residency program is comprehensive set of experiences emphasizing clinical pharmacy practice as well as aspects of pharmacy management. Core rotations include critical care, cardiology, geriatrics, drug information, pharmacy practice management and infectious disease. Elective rotations are available in many areas including oncology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and diabetes education to name a few. Each resident's schedule of rotations is individualized to meet their personal and professional goals. Residents will also have opportunities to get involved with formulary development/management, medication preparation/delivery, medication utilization evaluation development and attend multidisciplinary committee meetings. Residents are expected to participate in journal club, case discussions, formulary reviews and complete a research project.

Drake-Iowa Methodist Residency Program:
Residency Special Features: Extensive experiential and didactic teaching opportunities. Strong ambulatory care component for a hospital-based residency. Children's hospital on campus. Support from Internal Medicine Residency program allows for flexibility in rotations and for program emphasis in Internal Medicine.
