Motivation and Learning: Cooperation and the Quality Classroom (EDEX 162)

3 Semester Hours of Graduate Credit

Course Overview

Featuring Dr. William Glaser and Dr. Roger Johnson, this course is based on Dr. Glasser’s Choice Theory that state that our behavior is guided by a set of basic needs. One classroom approach that meets students’ basic need is cooperative learning. You will see how cooperative learning and other classroom strategies will lead your students to quality work.

In this course, you will learn how:

  • Create lessons that involve students.
  • Best utilize cooperative teaching techniques.
  • Help students set goals to work harder.
  • Help students solve group and classroom problems that affect their learning.
  • Improve student-teacher relationships.

Forcing students to learn doesn’t work; gaining their cooperation does. “Cooperation and the Quality Classroom” gives you the knowledge and skills necessary to create lesson plans and utilize classroom strategies that will help your students become active, enthusiastic partners in the education process.

This course is available in VHS or DVD format.
