Assessing Language and Content Knowledge

COURSE OVERVIEW
This course will examine formal and informal assessment, with a focus on authentic assessment for English language learners. You will examine pre- and post-instructional assessment, along with the assessment of acculturation, language proficiency, and content. You will explore the variables that affect reliability and validity of assessments and the implications of assessment and placement in special education settings. This course provides the opportunity to incorporate effective assessment practices into your classroom, and use the data from assessments to inform instruction for your ELL students.
