Teaching Fractions (EDDL 288)

Course Overview
This course focuses primarily on rational number concepts and operations. It is specifically designed to support teachers in developing and maintaining engaging strategies for assisting students who struggle with fractions. Upon completion of this course you will be able to demonstrate conceptually to your students the foundations for mastering algorithms, how to establish concrete connections between fractions and symbolism, and how to diagnose, prescribe, and remediate error patterns. The course follows an activity based, problem-solving approach, in which you learn to apply general strategies to specific student difficulties.
