Bloodborne Pathogens

Drake University has a Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan. The purpose of the Plan is to protect faculty, staff and students against exposure to blood, bodily fluids and other potentially infectious materials.

Drake University requires the used of engineering controls and Universal precautions when dealing with infectious materials. Engineering controls include the use of physical barriers and specialized equipment, such as biosafety cabinets. Universal precautions include the used of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and lab coats.
