Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship/Grant Deadline: February (annually) Award: $10,000 Eligibility: Upper division undergraduates and graduate students (Masters or Ph.D.) of accredited universities/colleges. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment, either through coursework or experience, to any combination of at least two of the following fields: Early Childhood Education, Child Development/Child Psychology, Film/Television Production, Music, or Animation. Applicant must have the ultimate goal of working in the field of children’s media. Iowa College Student Aid Commission Forgivable Loans for Teachers Eligibility: Applicant must be an Iowa resident enrolled at least half-time in a shortage area education program. Applicant must also file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Obligations: Teach in an Iowa shortage area for 5 years to have 100 percent of loan forgiven (Twenty percent of loan will be forgiven each year that you teach in a shortage area). Iowa Student Loan Teacher Career Establishment Grant Eligibility: Applicant must have graduated or will graduate during the current academic year. Must be certified in a state-designated shortage area in Iowa. Must be contracted to begin their first classroom teaching job in a state-designated shortage area in Iowa after Jan. 1, 2011. Must not have taught in any other state prior to teaching in Iowa. Must not have been recipients of an Iowa Student Loan Teacher Education Loan Forgiveness Award between 2006 and 2010. Can not be employee, dependents, or spouses of employees of Iowa Student Loan.
