Filing the FAFSA

The Office of Student Financial Planning encourages all students to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  By filing the FAFSA, a student ensures consideration for all federal, state and institutional financial aid programs.  The FAFSA application is available on the Department of Education's web site and can be filed for any award year after January 1 of the appropriate year (filing for the 2010-2011 school year begins January 1, 2010).  The FAFSA web site also links to the Department of Education Personal Identification (PIN) web site.  By applying for a PIN, a student (and the student's parents if applicable) can complete the FAFSA application entirely via the web.

Students may file a paper FAFSA.  Contact the Office of Student Financial Planning or a local school guidance counselor's office to obtain a paper FAFSA.  If you file a paper FAFSA, the Department of Education will still transmit your information to schools via the web.
