5.13 JOINT COMMITTEE ON STUDENT CONCERNSsuspended May 2000
The Committee shall be a joint
committee of the Faculty Senate and the Student Senate, whose primary charge is to
provide a means of communication between the two senates on student life matters*
of concern to both. The Faculty Senate or the Student Senate may request review and/or
recommendations from the committee on any issue deemed appropriate by either senate.
The Student Fee Allocations Committee of the Student Senate shall be a subcommittee
of the Joint Committee on Student Concerns, which shall serve as the final authority
for all student fee allocation appeals.
The Committee shall be comprised of five members of the Faculty of Instruction, at
least two of whom are members of the Faculty Senate appointed by the Executive Committee
of the Faculty Senate, five members of the Student Senate appointed by the Student
Body President and approved by the Student Senate, and two non-voting members of
the Student Life staff appointed by the Presidents of the Faculty and Student senates
upon the recommendation of the Dean of Students.
The Chair of the Committee shall be a committee member elected by a majority vote
of the committee at the first meeting of the academic year, which shall be called
by the Presidents of the Faculty and Student senates.
