Graduate Standing

Graduate Standing is granted to admitted applicants who meet the following conditions:
  • Have completed all document requirements.

  • Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • GPAs:
    • Applicants to the graduate master's degree programs in the School of Education (SOE) must have achieved a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all previous undergraduate work and 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all previous graduate work attempted.
    • The MBA program, in the College of Business and Public Administration (CBPA), requires a 2.5 GPA on all undergraduate work or a 2.75 GPA in the last half of undergraduate work.
    • The MPA program requires a minimum 3.0 GPA for the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work.
    • All students must achieve a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in the last half of undergraduate course work.  A grade average of at least a "B" (3.0) in the last half of undergraduate work in the field or fields of study closely related to the graduate field of study must also be achieved.
    • The CBPA requires completion of foundation/prerequisite course work with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Meet departmental requirements in the chosen field, including special testing, and be approved by the department.

  • Meet all prerequisite requirements.

  • Drake teaching licensure and endorsement programs do not require admission to a master's, specialist or doctoral program, but they do require a student to follow the same admission procedures required for a master’s degree program. Endorsements of twelve hours or less will require students to file an application for admission and provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities (post secondary) schools attended, submit two letters of recommendation and provide a current resume or curriculum vitae.

  • Special graduate standing also may be granted to a student who enrolls for graduate study only for cultural and professional advancement and not for a Drake University degree. Enrollment on this basis is not authorized to count toward a Drake degree program and is not granted by all Drake colleges and schools.
