Master in Communication Leadership Requirements
- Applications are accepted for the fall term only. Application deadline is July 1st.
- Complete and submit a Drake Graduate Admission Application. Apply Online. Download Application. Request Application.
- Submit the non-refundable $25 application fee. (Students who have previously applied to Drake and paid the application fee are not required to pay the fee again.)
- Official transcripts from coursework completed at all colleges, universities or technical institutes attended should be sent from each institution to Drake University. Please request all transcripts be sent directly from the institutions to Drake University at the address below. Unofficial transcripts or transcripts marked “issued to student” will not be accepted. Drake transcripts will not be required.
- Official Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores. The minimum required score is 389. Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores will also be accepted. Minimum required scores for the GRE are 450 each on the Verbal and Quantitative sections, and the minimum required score for the GMAT is 500.
- An interview with the Graduate Chair
- Three letters of recommendation from professional contacts
- A copy of your current professional resume or curriculum vitae
- 3-5 page essay on leadership. The essay should answer the question: Who is today’s most effective leader and what makes her or him successful? Use a specific example and explain what he or she did to demonstrate effectiveness as a leader. This should be no longer than five pages double-spaced, with no endnotes or footnotes.
- A minimum of five years of professional, communication-related work experience is required.
As this program can only be done in a part-time format, it is not appropriate for international students on F-1 visas who must be in full-time programs.
