DU-IT

Drake University International Travel is a student organization which strives to:

  • bring study abroad host country cultures back to Drake's campus
  • bring study abroad returnees together
  • involve and inform future study abroad students and the Drake community at large
  • to provide networking opportunities locally and internationally
  • be a breeding ground and wealth of information on post-graduate opportunities abroad

Since returning to campus after a study abroad experience can be a difficult adjustment, this organization was started by study abroad returnees to improve that adjustment and make it a smoother process. We felt that students who return from a study abroad experience need some type of additional support upon coming back to campus.

DU-IT became an official student organization during the fall 2008 semester. So far some of the events we have held include ethnic dinners, a welcome back party for study abroad returnees and an evening of sharing pictures and stories from study abroad experiences. Members of the organization have also helped prospective study abroad students and the study abroad with study abroad pre-departure and re-entry sessions. We encourage you to join this organization to share your experiences, learn about others’ experiences and pass on your knowledge to prospective study abroad students.
