Wireless Access

High security wireless networking has been installed for use in academic buildings, student residence halls, Hubbell Dining, Olmsted Center and on Helmick Commons.

The academic buildings include: Aliber Hall, Carnegie Hall (3rd floor), Cartwright Hall, Cline Hall, Cowles Library, Education, Fitch Hall, Harmon Fine Arts Center, Harvey Ingham, Harmon Fine Arts Center, Howard Hall, Legal Clinic, Medbury Hall, Meredith Hall, Olin Hall, Opperman Law Library, ROTC and Studio Arts.

The residence halls are: Carpenter, Crawford, Herriott, Jewett, Kirk, Morehouse, Ross and Stalnaker.  These locations are shown on a coverage map.

The process of configuring your computer to connect to Drake Wireless may seem complex. After all, one can go to any airport, motel or coffee shop and have wireless access with little effort. However, bear in mind that most of these networks are not secure and even a novice can download software that will permit them to intercept your information as it travels over the network. We take very seriously our responsibility for protecting your use of our network from the unscrupulous.

To access the wireless network, your computer must meet certain hardware and software standards. In addition, the manner in which your computer's wireless capability must be configured depends upon the operating system (Windows - XP and Vista or Macintosh - Tiger and Leopard) and how it logs in to the network.

Instructions on how to setup your computer for Drake wireless access can be found by accessing the Support Center tab in blueVIEW then choose the Connectivity button.  The Drake Service Desk will also assist in the setup and registration for your wireless device.
