Drake University's Hardware Repair Policy

  1. OIT has a five-year cycle for devices supported by OIT.  OIT will repair Dell and Apple computers and printers (including HP printers) up to 5 years old.  This will be done by buying, installing and testing replacement parts from Dell, Apple and HP.
  2. It is recommended that purchasers buy extended warranties (2 years for Mac, 3 years for Dell) at the same time that they buy the hardware.
  3. Repair parts not covered by warranty are paid for by the department making the purchase; OIT staff time is not charged.
  4. If users wish to have older devices repaired, they can be sent to an Apple store or to a local repair shop which handles Dell. Please call the Support Center at ext. 3001 for details.
