Dr. Maryann Huey received her doctorate from the University of Missouri in Mathematics Education and holds a master's degree in mathematics from the University of Kansas as well as a master's degree in business administration from the Ohio State University.

Dr. Huey conducts research in the areas of statistics education, teachers' use of curricular resources, equity, and mathematical reasoning. Recently, Dr. Huey was awarded a Mathematics and Science partnership grant. The project, Statistics and Probability for Teaching Secondary Students, provided professional development activities to over 100 secondary teachers in alignment with the Common Core Curriculum Content and Mathematical Practice Standards throughout Iowa.

Dr. Huey enjoys working with area teachers and Drake students to develop needed curricular resources and teaching practices that engage all students in learning meaningful mathematics. Dr. Huey is currently working with a team of other mathematics educators and middle school mathematics teachers in order to close the achievement gap of African Americans and English Language Learners specific to algebra achievement in the Des Moines area.  

Dr. Huey teaches a variety of courses including mathematics methods and content courses.
