DRAKE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY TO HOLD HAMMER HIKE 2002

Drake University’s Habitat for Humanity invites students, faculty, staff and members of the community to participate in Hammer Hike 2002, an annual fundraising event, on Saturday, April 6. Participants will meet at 11 a.m. near Aliber Hall in Aliber Field, 29th Street and University Avenue.

The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a construction workshop sponsored by Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse of West Des Moines, in which participants will construct several dog houses.

The workshop will be followed by a walking tour of homes sponsored by Habitat for Humanity in the Drake neighborhood at 1 p.m. The tour will include a residence at 1720 Gillette St. where volunteers from Habitat for Humanity will be working that day.
Participants must bring a minimum $10 donation to the event. All proceeds will be donated to the Des Moines Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.

Habitat for Humanity International brings families and communities in need together with volunteers and resources to build decent and affordable housing. For more information, send an e-mail message to Audrey Smith at als015@drake.edu.
