Music at Drake
Drake University Community School of Music
Fall 2004

Looking for a musical opportunity to cultivate the artist within you? The Drake University Community School of Music 16-week fall session begins August 22, 2004. Individual instruction is available at all levels, beginning through advanced, and all ages (3-80+) in piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, harp, organ, and music theory. Individual voice instruction is available on a semester basis for students over the age of 15. Tuition for the fall semester is $320 plus a $20 enrollment fee.

New for the fall 2004 semester is a program designed for the younger singer. This program combines voice coaching with piano instruction and basic reading and rhythmic skills work in the fundamentals of theory. Tuition varies depending on the combination of singing, piano, and theory instruction.

DUCSOM's young violinst program starts its school year in October. Designed for children ages 3-8, this program provides private lessons (20 minutes in length) and group classes (30 minutes in length). The instructional content includes the following: learning children's songs and pieces in the Suzuki style, reading notation (separate from playing the violin), counting rhythms, beginning theory, practice performing, and group playing. Enrollment in this program is limited.

To obtain additional information about any of the programs or to enroll, contact Christine Schneider at the Drake University Community School of Music office, 271-4011.
