CHECK OUT NEW BOOKS DURING 'BOOK WEEK' AT DRAKE

Educators, parents and students are invited to peruse a large selection of books published in 2001 for children and young adults during Iowa’s first annual "Book Week" at Drake University.
This event is sponsored by Drake's School of Education and Cowles Library as well as the Des Moines Public Schools and Heartland Area Education Agency.

"Book Week" will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, through Thursday, Oct. 4, in the newly renovated Reading Room at Cowles Library, 28th Street and University Avenue.

The Des Moines community may visit the display from noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, and 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Oct. 4.

A book review session will take place in the reading room at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Reviews of recent titles will be presented by DeDe Small, assistant professor of education at Drake, Dale Vande Haar, coordinator of libraries and information services for Des Moines Public Schools, and a Drake student. Several guests will also speak, including Iowa First Lady Christie Vilsack.
