FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 31, 2000 CONTACT: Lisa Lacher, (515) 271-3119 PIANO DUO TO PRESENT 20th CENTURY DANCE MUSIC Piano duo Chiu-Ling Lin of Drake University and Sylvia Wang of Northwestern University will present "Two to Tango," a collection of 20th century dance music, in a Drake faculty recital at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, on the Jordan Stage in Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main, 26th Street and University Avenue. The recital, which is free and open to the public, will feature works by Ravel, Barber and Schoenfield plus the Iowa premiere of David Burge’s "Liana Song." "Two to Tango" made its debut in Des Moiens with a performance of Mozart’s Concerto in E-flat for Two Painos with the Brandenburg Ensemble. Previously, the duo had recorded "Cross Scintillations" by Turkish-American composer Kamran Ince. Both as individual solists and as a duo, both Lin and Wang share a commitment to presentation and performance of contemporary music. They plan to perform a series of educational concerts in southeast Asia. Lin is professor of piano and a member of the Fine Arts Trio at Drake. She is also the principal keyboard player of the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra. |
