FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 27, 1999 CONTACT: Lisa Lacher, (515) 271-3119 PIANO DUET PERFORMANCE TO BE HELD AT DRAKE SEPT. 12 Pianists Robert Lien and Ray Songayllo will perform a Program of Music for Two Pianos at Drake University on Sunday, Sept. 12. The performance, which is sponsored by the Drake University Community School of Music, will start at 2:30 p.m. on the Jordan Stage in Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main, 26th Street and University Avenue. The event is free and open to the public. The program will feature a sonata by Stravinsky; Chopin's Rondo in C Major, Op. 73; Shostakovich's Concertino, Op. 94; six pieces from Bartok's "Mikrokosmos" and Rachmaninoff's "Fantasy" (Suite No. 1), Op. 5. Lien, who holds a bachelor's degree in piano performance from North Dakota State University, has been teaching at the Drake Community School of Music since 1969. He also has been the organist at Central Lutheran Church in Des Moines since 1974. In addition, he was an adjunct professor of piano at Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, for eight years. Songayllo earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in piano from Northwestern University. He has performed throughout the United States, including two Carnegie Recital Hall appearances.
