DRAKE COMMUNITY
SCHOOL OF MUSIC WELCOMES NEW FACULTY MEMBER
John Cord, trumpet, has joined the Drake University Community School of Music
as a faculty member. A native of the Des Moines area, Cord received his Master
of Music degree from the Yale University School of Music. He also was a member
of the popular East Coast Latin jazz/salsa band Sonido Unidad. In addition,
Cord has performed with several major symphony orchestras, brass ensembles and
as a solo recitalist.
This versatility
of styles extends to his individual studio instruction. His students begin early
on to learn easy jazz tunes and to develop the intelligent listening skills
necessary for both the successful jazz and classical performer.
Although the Drake University Community School of Music’s 16-week fall
session began August 23, it's never too late to enroll. The 16-week tuition
of $320 will be prorated for the remainder of the semester. For first-time students
there is an additional enrollment fee of $20 per family.
Individual instruction is available for beginning through advanced musicians at all ages and levels in piano, strings, woodwinds, percussion, harp, organ, and music theory.
For more information and registration, contact Christine Schneider at (515) 271-4011 or christine.schneider@drake.edu.
