Jan McMahill, assistant dean and director of Extension Education in the School of Education, was the keynote speaker at the Nebraska Summit on Distance Education in Grand Island, Neb., on June 1. Her topic was "From Computers to Carnegie Hall: Taking Distance Learning to the Top."

Rod Henshaw, dean of Cowles Library, attended the annual conference of the American Library Association in San Francisco June 15-17. He chaired the initial meeting of the Library Administration and Management Associations National Leadership Institute Committee. He also was elected chair of the Association of College and Research Libraries, Popular Culture in Academic Libraries Discussion Group.

Ed Bell, associate professor of pharmacy practice, has been appointed to the Journal Advisory Board for the Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He also is co-author of a poster titled "A Unique Approach to Evidence-Based Medicine in a Community Setting" presented at the American Association of Hospital Medical Education annual meeting in Phoenix in May. In addition, he published "Basic Bibliographies - Pediatric Infectious Diseases" in the May issue of Hospital Pharmacy.

Klaus Bartschat, the Ellis and Nelle Levitt distinguished professor of physics, has contributed a book chapter titled "Complete Experiments in Electron-Atom Collisions: Benchmarks for Atomic Collision Theory" to Electron Scattering - Photon Impact - EPR Experiments published by Plenum Press, New York. He also has given a presentation at colloquia at the University of Northern Iowa and Illinois State University. The presentation is titled "Electron Collisions with Atoms and Ions: Recent Developments in Theory, Experiment and Computer Simulations."

Milan Randic, professor emeritus of mathematics and computer science, is the author or co-author of 13 papers published in the May/June issue of the Journal of Chemical Information and Computer Sciences. The papers were first presented in May at the Second Indo-United States Workshop in Mathematical Chemistry held in Duluth, Minn.
