Welcome

Summer Orientation is a lively, information-packed way to become more familiar with Drake and have a great time. Extensive studies show that Drake students who attend summer orientation have a smoother transition, both academically and socially, to college life. They also have more fun — see for yourself.

For Students

Even if you've already visited campus, summer orientation is an important time that marks the beginning of your life at Drake University. You will meet your classmates, upper-class students, faculty and staff, so you'll know people when you return to campus for fall classes. You will choose your first-semester classes and get an in-depth look at Drake's student services, residence hall life, and co-curricular and social opportunities. You can learn more about the Des Moines community, too.

For Parents

Orientation is vital even if you've already visited the Drake campus. Faculty and staff will answer your questions about campus life, academic programs, safety, athletics, financial aid, billing and payment options, the community and any other topics you want to discuss. You will learn ways you can get involved at Drake and meet other parents who may be experiencing the same hopes and anxieties you are as your student leaves for college.
