Welcome to Drake!

Parent Portal Coming This Fall!

In summer 2008, Drake University introduced to the parents of incoming first-year students their own secure access to blueView, our campus portal. The blueView portal is separate from the Drake web page and will contain more targeted information than the public web page.

blueView has a parent tab on which we will a) provide information of interest to parents as their students experience Drake University AND b) allow students to give parents access to grades, transcript and billing information after their student has given consent.

Early this fall we will be sending parents of continuing students their individual Drake ID’s (required to enter blueView,) along with instructions for accessing the parent tab on blueView.  You will not be able to access blueView and the parent tab without your Drake ID.

We will also be educating continuing students about the parent tab and their ability to allow parents to see their grades and billing information on-line.

This site is designed to act as a resource for the duration of your student’s time at Drake University. Keep this link as a handy reference and use it often.  You can also access an electronic copy of the Parents Pocket Guide for 2008-09 by clicking here.

About Drake University

A national, coeducational, independent and private university founded in 1881, Drake offers more than 70 undergraduate majors in six colleges and schools, and graduate programs in business, education and law.

Your student will learn from and interact with outstanding, accessible faculty and other students. Approximately 3,000 full-time undergraduate students from around the USA and 54 countries attend Drake.  Equally important, your student will benefit from a lifelong connection to Drake: After graduating, he or she will automatically become a member of the Drake National Alumni Association, connecting him or her to the University and to a network of more than 64,000 Drake alumni worldwide.

Drake Parents Association

At Drake, we welcome and encourage parents to get involved in their students’ education and invite you to make the most of your automatic membership in the Drake University Parents Association.

Parents Association Board members and University staff are ready and willing to answer your questions and listen to your ideas about your student’s education. As we look forward to your student joining us on campus, we also look forward to you joining our extended campus community.  Welcome!

The Drake University Parents Association provides a variety of special events for parents, such as the Parents and Family Weekend, the President’s Assembly and other activities designed to introduce you to the Drake faculty and administration.

As a Drake parent, you can:

  • Expect that your student’s education needs and adjustment to college life are Drake’s first priority.
  • Help recruit other students (and parents) for Drake.
  • Contribute to the Parents Annual Fund, which provides important financial support to benefit students.
  • Receive Drake-related offers in the mail, such as the MBNA MasterCard, GradMed short-term health insurance for new Drake graduates and diploma frames that display your student’s degree.
