Submit Your Drake News & Events

The Drake public relations team needs information in advance to properly publicize your stories and events. Please submit event information and files 10-14 days before the desired publish date. Your information will be sent to the Drake Marketing and Communication Office.

We do appreciate you taking time to share information and ideas. Filling out this form does not guarantee the event will be publicized. Stories will be approved and rewritten at the discretion of the Drake University public relations staff.

Events Release

Releases are limited to events that are open to the general public. Events restricted to the Drake community will appear only in the OnCampus e-newsletter and be sent to campus news media.

Information must be received a minimum of 7 days in advance of the event to generate a news release shared with the local media (TV, radio and the Des Moines Register) and hometown papers and posting on the Drake home page. Due to the high volume of requests, event news releases will not be written if information is received less than one week before the event.

Feature Story

Feature stories can be pitched to the media and/or published as news highlights on the Drake home page and in various electronic newsletters.

Story ideas are entered into a database used by Marketing and Communications staff to develop editorial content for all university communications vehicles, including Blue magazine.

Faculty/Staff Accomplishment

Faculty and staff may share news of fellowships, awards and other recognitions to be highlighted on the Drake home page and on blueView. These posts celebrate achievements within the Drake community and may also be used to promote accomplishments to outside media and organizations.

Forms that are submitted as completely as possible help the public relations staff accommodate requests for accomplishment postings.
