Office of the Provost

The Office of the Provost is responsible for Drake University's academic programs. The Division of Academic Affairs comprises six academic units, as well as the University Library.

Units reporting to the Provost include the College of Arts & Sciences, the School of Education, the College of Business and Public Administration, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the School of Law, and the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Reporting to the President, the Provost supports assessment, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement of academic programs, and planning, budgeting, and efficiency initiatives within the division. The Provost’s office works closely with the Divisions of Academic Excellence and Student Success, and Finance and Administration, on issues related to admissions, policies, and other aspects of the university related to academic affairs. The Provost also manages faculty appointments, promotions, tenure decisions, and professional development programs.

Provost Office and Direct Reports Complaint Procedure:
If you have a complaint or a concern that a policy or procedure has been incorrectly or unfairly applied or that inappropriate behavior or action has occurred, first discuss the problem with the staff member with whom the issue originated. If you would like the complaint to move forward following this discussion, please contact the person's immediate supervisor. If the process still is not resolved, please call 515-271-3751.
