Don’t just learn about the language you study, learn how to communicate in that language, in the World Languages and Cultures Program.
In addition to classroom time with a professor, you’ll meet in small groups with a native speaker to practice speaking the language conversationally—an experience that successfully mimics how individuals learn their first language.
Though the World Languages and Culture Program does not offer majors and minors, you will be able to receive a certificate of competence that demonstrates your proficiency in your chosen language and an understanding of the culture(s) in which that language is spoken. Certificates are available in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish.
