Senior Visit Options

Bulldog Days of Summer (Select dates in July and August)

Discover the excitement of the Drake experience at Bulldog Days of Summer. This visit program will include a Welcome session, admission presentation, Drake panel, student-led campus tour, Academic Overviews, an Academic and Information Fair and an optional lunch in Drake's dining hall.

Your Drake Day (Individual Visit)

Your Drake Day can be scheduled on most weekdays. Your visit will include a meeting with an admission counselor and campus tour with a current student. In addition, you can tailor your itinerary with special appointments to help you and your family see if Drake is is the right fit and make your college decision. 

We encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities on campus such as meeting with a faculty member, attend a class in a specific academic area, lunch on campus, or meet with a financial aid staff member. Please request the additional aspects that will help you learn about areas of Drake you are most interested in the "Additional Appointments" section. These appointments require at least a week's notice and cannot be guaranteed.

Coach Appointments: Drake University competes at the NCAA Division I level. The Office of Admission does not schedule coach appointments and encourages interested student athletes to contact coaches directly.

Fridays with Griff

Welcome to the most pawsome of campus visits! A typical individual visit includes a campus tour and an admission counselor appointment. But on this day, you will also be able to meet our live Bulldog mascot Griff and attend a Q&A session with our student Bulldogs.

Registration opens in July 2019.

Fall Campus Preview Day (Oct. 7 & Nov. 11)

Campus Preview Days are designed for prospective students and parents to learn more about life at Drake through interactions with Drake students, faculty and staff. The agenda includes a Drake overview, student and parent panels, academic meetings with faculty, lunch with the Drake community, student-led campus tours, an information fair, and farewell reception.

Campus Preview Half Day (October 17 & 18)

Campus Preview Half Days are designed for prospective students and parents to learn more about life at Drake thought interactions with Drake students, faculty and staff. Choose from either a morning or afternoon session: the agenda includes a Drake Overview, student panel, academic meetings with faculty, campus tour, and optional complimentary lunch for the visiting student and two guests in Hubbell Dining Hall.

 

Athletic Training Day (Oct. 5)

This open house program is designed to introduce you to Drake's unique 3+2Pre-Athletic Training/ Masters of Athletic Training (MAT) program, that will prepare you for a dynamic career as an Athletic Trainer. You will have the opportunity to interact with faculty and current students through an Athletic Training class experience, a practitioner and current student panel, and an admission presentation. You'll also get to see the first-year MAT students receive their Blue Coat at the first annual Blue Coat Ceremony!  Lunch will be provided. Stay after the program, at 1:00pm, for an optional full campus tour and/or watch the afternoon Drake football game. Complimentary football tickets will be provided to all registered prospective students.


Politics Day (Nov. 2)

Drake and Des Moines are the center of the political universe! High School Seniors and Transfer students are invited to attend Politics Day at Drake to learn from faculty, current students, and alumni about Drake's unique position in the political landscape. Prospective students will board a bus and venture off-campus for bipartisan site visits with current Drake students and recent alumni who are working in politics in Des Moines, such as campaign headquarters, media organizations, the Iowa House and Senate, state government agencies and/or consulting firms.

Politics Day begins at 1:00 PM; participating students may opt to begin their day at the earlier Saturday Visit Day program (beginning at 9:30 AM), which will include a Drake overview, student panel, campus tour, and lunch on campus, before diving into a politics-themed afternoon. 

Music Audition Day (Nov. 8, Jan. 31, & Feb. 7)

To be admitted to the Department of Music, and to be considered for scholarship awards as a Music major, minor, or non-major participant, prospective students must audition for Drake Music faculty. In addition to your music audition, your day will include music classes and Drake faculty interaction, lunch in Hubbell Dining Hall and a campus tour.

Registration opens July 2019.

STEM and Health Professions Day (Nov. 8)

STEM and Health Professions Day is designed to introduce high school seniors and transfer students to programs at Drake University that will prepare them for careers in STEM and health care professions. Prospective students will have the opportunity to interact with faculty and current students through academic break-out sessions, interactive labs in each field of study, academic spaces and facilities tour, an admission presentation, a campus tour and complimentary lunch in the dining hall for up to three individuals per visitor.

Specific academic areas in both the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences will be included: Astronomy, Athletic Training, Biology, Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology (BCMB), Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Environmental Science and Sustainability, Health Sciences; Kinesiology, Math, Neuroscience, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physics, Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medicine, and Psychology.

Saturday Visit Day (Sept. 21 & Nov. 2)

Drake students may be sleeping in on a Saturday morning, but the Office of Admission is awake, if it fits your schedule best to see campus on a weekend.  You'll participate in a Drake University overview, a student panel, and a campus tour. Stay for an optional complimentary brunch in Hubbell Dining Hall and you'll likely run into Bulldogs starting off their weekend. Optional academic overviews will be provided after the program at 1 pm.

Transfer On-Site Admission Evening Appointments

Take some of the stress out of the college information gathering and application process by connecting with Drake University's Transfer admission staff in-person.

Evening appointments in Drake University's Office of Admission are available on select dates. During your on-site admission appointment, you can even get your college acceptance on the spot!
