Vision:
To provide an engaging and immersive art and design experience where visual, technical, and conceptual skills are equally valued.
The Department of Art and Design offers two distinct degree pathways and is situated within a liberal arts University. Our size allows for the flexibility to provide you with meaningful personalized experiences. From the classroom to mentoring to internships, we will guide you to incorporate your interests and values into your education and prepare you to meet the goals you have set for your future.
As you move through the program you will build on a rich liberal arts education, gaining skills in critical thinking, and problem-based learning. Our courses are designed to heighten your curiosity and enhance your artistic engagement in responsible and sustainable methods through discussions, seminars, and hands-on experiences in the studio. You will have the opportunity to collaborate on projects with other students, department-run Anderson Gallery and with on-campus and off-campus community organizations through the Office of Community Engaged Learning. Upon completion of a major in Art & Design, you will be an adept critical thinker and capable problem solver, equipped to successfully navigate and adapt to the change and complexity of the professional world.
