Study Abroad

The College of Arts and Sciences actively supports undergraduate study abroad experiences, making it possible for students in any Arts and Sciences major to earn credit studying overseas.

Arts and Sciences students studied abroad in 30 different countries— including Italy, Japan, Cameroon, India, Peru, France, New Zealand, South Africa, and Belize— during the 2018-2019 academic year.

College of Arts and Sciences faculty have established partnerships with Minzu University in Beijing; Nanjing University in Nanjing, China; Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Mexico, and continually work with the Drake International Center to establish new partnerships and opportunities with universities across the globe.

January Term and May Term Travel Courses

Faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences facilitate the following three- to six-week travel courses during January Term (J-Term) and May term sessions:

Research Abroad

Our undergraduate students have opportunities to carry out research in overseas, most recently with the Great Ape Trust in Gishwati Forest in Rwanda.

Language Learning

Our World Languges and Cultures program offers courses in American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. Students also have the opportunity to complete minors in many of the languages listed above or minors in East Asian or Latin American studies.
