Noyce Scholars

Final Acceptance to the Noyce Scholars program in contingent upon full admittance to Drake's School of Education program, review of offical transcripts and letters of recommendations, and alignment of a qualifying STEM degree.

To qualify as an applicant, the following minimum requirements must be met:

• Earning or have a baccalaureate degree in a STEM discipline, which includes engineering, accounting, and computer science
  • Bachelor's degrees in chemistry, physics, computer science, data analytics or mathematics are preferred
  • Degrees in Medicine, nursing, and allied health majors or professionals are not eligible for Noyce scholarship/stipend support.
• Maintaining of have a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on all undergraduate work from an accredited institution.
• Two email addresses for references that can attest to the applicant's demonstrated characteristics as a learner in STEM coursework and/or budding commitment to teaching.

Undergraduate students can apply in either their junior or senior year and receive $15,000 in scholarships per year. The scholarship funds can help students finish their STEM degree and also complete the needed education courses and experiences that lead to teaching licensure.

Graduate students with a bachelor's degree in STEM fields can apply and receive $27,000 of stipends in order to pursue a master's degree in education that results in teaching licensure.

All recipients of scholarships and stipends must commit to teach for two years in high needs schools for every year of Noyce funding. High need schools constitute a wide array of districts from urban to rural, and scholars can pursue positions throughout the United States upon graduation and teacher licensure.

As specified by the National Science Foundation, applicants must be United States citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens.
