Student Projects

Below, we showcase some of the exciting work Black Diaspora Studies minors have done at Drake. Students have the option of completing an independent study (BLDS 199) to finish their minor in a unique way. In these projects, students work closely with a professor of their choice to research and study a topic deeply.

Aanika Pfister

Forgotten and Misremembered Black Women

Aanika Pfister graduated in December of 2023 with a major in Writing and minors in Black Diaspora Studies and Rhetoric, Media, and Social Change. Her multicultural background and Chicagoan roots inspire her poetry, which focuses on understanding how the stories of under-represented people are told in our world.
