Marc G. Busch earned his Bachelor of Sciences in Biology, with an emphasis in both Microbiology and Molecular Biology/Biochemistry, from the University of California Irvine. As an undergraduate he did research examining the replication of picornaviruses. After working as a laboratory technician for a year Dr. Busch began the Microbiology Ph.D. program the University of California Davis studying HIV vaccine models. After graduate school Dr. Busch did a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Madison examining species specificity of influenza A viruses. Since 2009, he has been an assistant professor in the Biology Department as well as being associated with the Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology (BCMB) program at Drake University.

Dr. Busch’s current research interests are in understanding various restrictions in influenza A virus replication. He is a member of the American Society for Virology (ASV), American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB).

Dr. Busch primarily teaches the courses Cell Biology (BIO 165), Molecular Biology (BIO 186), Cell and Molecular Biology Lab (BIO 187L), Genetics (BIO 105), and Virology (BIO104).
