As Chief Financial Officer, Adam provides oversight and leadership for the University’s financial operations, including budgeting, purchasing, debt management, treasury, financial aid, student account services, accounting, and payroll. In addition, Adam is responsible for financial reporting, internal audit and tax compliance.
Adam is the staff liaison for the Board of Trustees’ Stewardship Committee, Investment Sub-Committee and Audit Committee. He services as a member of the President’s Council and is directly involved in strategic decisions affecting the future of the University.
Prior to joining Drake in August 2019, Adam served as the Vice President for Administration and Finance at Grand View University in Des Moines for nine years. And he was the Associate Vice President for Business Services/Controller at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa for the previous eight years. Before being in the higher education industry, Adam worked in public accounting where he specialized in providing audit services to higher education and other not-for-profit clients.
Adam received his BA in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and an MBA, with an emphasis in finance, from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA), both in an inactive status. Adam serves on the Iowa Student Loan Liquidity Board of Directors where he is on the Executive and Finance Committees, as well as the chair of the Audit Committee. He also serves on the Indianola Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees where he is currently the Vice-Chair and was previously the Chair.
