Spring 2025 Course Dates: January 3 - April 4, 2025
Registration is open. The coursework will be available on January 3, 2025. 
*With the rolling semester dates, you may register any time before January 31, 2025, and still get the course completed by April 4, 2025.
ALL ASSIGNMENTS ARE TO BE TURNED IN BY April 4, 2025, but you should be submitting your work as you complete it. You then have two weeks to virtually meet with your instructor before the course ends on April 18, 2025.

1 Semester Hour of Graduate Credit - $220 (not including the cost of the textbook)‌

Course Overview

This self-paced course examines recent books and trends in publications for children and young adults and how they can best be utilized in the K-8 classroom.   

Course Objectives

  • Increase their familiarity with the world of recent children’s literature and its genres, including fiction and nonfiction, technology, media-based information, and non-print materials.
  • Identify and utilize a number of resources in the field of children’s literature.
  • Experience and understand the use of activities and extensions related to literature such as literature circles, book talks, and Readers’ Theatre.
  • Explore the role of culturally diverse literature in the classroom.

This course may not run as scheduled if we do not reach our minimum number of registrations.  Should this occur, all registered students will have the option of receiving a full refund OR rolling the registration over into the following semester.
