Non-profit Internship Scholarship
In the Spring of 2021, two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students doing unpaid internships with a non-profit organization. This scholarship is intended to remove the financial impediment of unpaid internships and encourage students to become civically engaged.
Internship Eligibility
*AmeriCorps positions receiving a living stipend and Segal Education Award are not eligible
Geography: No geographical limitations
Project Requirements: Among the internship responsibilities, interns are to be responsible for at least one substantial project that benefits the student, the organization, and the community through their project. The project should have ongoing value to the organization and community, beyond the time of the student's service to the organization. This project should be described in the application materials.
Student Qualifications:
Year: Available to Drake undergraduate and graduate students
Undergraduate Minimum GPA: 2.75
Graduate Minimum GPA: 3.0
Compensation: Student receiving the scholarship will receive $1,000, as long as the student completes at least 100 hours over the course of the Spring Semester. Internships that are shorter may be considered for a smaller scholarship.
Finding an internship: Students can work with their academic advisor, check Handshake for internship opportunities, or reach out to a non-profit of your choosing
Reporting: Students who receive the scholarship are expected to provide a short report describing the internship outcomes/accomplishments and a reflection of the experience
