As the Medication Safety Program Lead, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Rachel provides oversight and management of the medication safety and adverse drug event prevention task of the Quality Innovation Network-National Coordinating Center contract (QIN-NCC). She maintains and coordinates communication between government leads, contracting officers, national Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) contractors and internal team members. Rachel's collaboration with analytics enhances quality measures that evaluate medication safety outcomes for the national QIN-QIO program. Her role also entails evaluating claims data to assess medication safety & ADE improvement.
Rachel received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Drake University and completed a specialty residency in Primary Care at the University of Iowa. She practiced as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Primary Care at Kaiser Permanente Colorado for many years. Eventually, she and her family decided to relocate back to Iowa, where she had the opportunity to expand her pharmacy career. She held various clinical and administrative pharmacy positions including: Clinical Operations Manager for a PBM, Director of Clinical Pharmacy for a health insurance company, and Assistant Chief of Pharmacy at a VA hospital. In 2012, she accepted the position as Telligen’s Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and began work on the state of Iowa Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) contract.
