Dr. Erin Ulrich is Associate Professor of Social and Administrative Sciences at Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Erin has always been interested in entrepreneurship since she was young. Gathering knowledge and personal success through elevator pitch and business plan writing competitions, she was able to design diabetes management services for a chain pharmacy while in graduate school at the University of Michigan. She grew up watching her uncle make many changes in his own independent rural community pharmacy. Not only have these changes been exciting and complicated due to the geographical and cultural context of rural living, but also they have influenced her research and passions. Her interests within entrepreneurism lie in sustainable business models for rural area.
In the pharmacy program, Dr. Ulrich teaches the required course Pharmacy Law & Ethics. She also offers non-patient care, research APPE students. In the health sciences program, I teach the required course Entrepreneurial Leadership. Dr. Ulrich feels that all students and faculty deserve to have a platform for creative inquiry and support to grow their practice and profession through entrepreneurism; DeltaRx is this place for Drake University. One of her favorite quotes is, "Learning and Innovation go hand in hand. The arrogance of success if to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow." - William Pollard
Question for the Team Members: What Is Your Favorite DELTA Rx Event?
" My favorite DeltaRx Event are the Summer Entrepreneurial Internships. These 8-week internships allow for students to work full-time with innovative Iowa pharmacists on projects to improve patient care and pharmacy processes. This opportunity is unique to Drake CPHS and assists students in achieving their post-graduate goals."
