Students who qualify for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are welcome at Drake University and encouraged to apply for admission.

Know Your Rights: Immigration Issues in the Drake University Community

We invite you to join us on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 4:30-5:30 p.m., for a virtual informational session entitled, "Know Your Rights: Immigration Issues in the Drake University Community." This presentation will address issues anticipated to impact Drake University students and the Drake University community in the coming years. The presentation will focus on the rights of noncitizens and allies in our community. Please register here. We will send the meeting link early the week of December 15.

Legal Resources for DACA Recipients

  • DACA recipients can find a variety of Iowa immigration service providers through the Iowa Department of Human Rights website.
  • Iowa Justice For Our Neighbors (JFON) is an inter-denominational immigration advocacy organization based in Des Moines.  JFON provides free legal aid in their Des Moines office and in clinics across the state.

Safety, Health, and Wellness Resources for DACA Recipient Students

  • DACA students can submit an anonymous inquiry using Drake’s Ethics Point service. Upon receipt of an inquiry, a response will be sent to the originating party back through the Ethics Point site.    
  • For confidential counseling support, DACA students can contact the University Counseling Center at 515-271-3864.
