Appointments
Students are seen by appointment only and walk-ins
Before scheduling an appointment, students are encouraged to make sure the medical attention they’re seeking is necessary. If a student feels a professor or parent needs to talk with someone in the Broadlawns Community Clinic at Drake, the student will be required to complete and sign a “Medical Release of Information” form granting permission for the clinical staff to speak with designated personnel.
What happens if you’re late to your appointment?
- If you’re 5 minutes late, our staff will do our best to fit you in however, you may have to wait longer than expected.
- If you’re 10 minutes late, you'll have to reschedule.
What if you need to cancel your appointment?
- All cancellations MUST be made 2 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
Payments / Fees
The majority of services from the student Health Center are provided at no charge. Additional laboratory work and test cultures, as deemed necessary by the Health Center medical staff will be sent to the Broadlawns Medical Center laboratory. It will be the students or students’ insurance responsibility to cover the cost of these tests.
Here’s a brief overview what students will and will not pay for:
Students will not pay for
- Acute illness visit
- Management of existing conditions such as asthma, diabetes, etc.
- Contraceptive Counseling
- Health Care Education and Counseling
- Health Screenings
- Testing for Sexually Transmitted Infections
Students will pay for
- Medications
- Annual Physicals
- Immunizations - Hepatitis B, Measles / Mumps / Rubells, Flu, Hepatitis A, Tetanus, Meningitis
- TB Skin Test (Mantoux)
- Allergy Injections
- Annual Pap Exam
- Sports Physicals
