Orientation Guide

Before You Arrive

You may stop by Human Resources to demonstrate employment eligibility on or before your first day of employment. To ensure you provide appropriate documentation required for completion of the I-9 Form, please reference this I-9 List of Acceptable Documents.

Upon receiving your offer letter, we will assign you a Drake ID number and will send you an automated email.  

You may wish to preview these Drake-sponsored Benefits as well as the following information before your first day of employment.

With your staff ID number, you can then access our internal portal, myDrake, to set up direct deposit and access the comprehensive new hire information. If you are unsure about your ID number, feel free to give us a call at 515-271-3133.

During your First Week

Direct Deposit

You will need to provide direct deposit information online by going to my.drake.edu > Self Service > Direct Deposit Information (on the Personal Information card).

Your first paycheck will be a physical check which will be mailed to your home address. Should you prefer to acquire this paycheck in person, please contact Payroll at 515-271-3190.

During Your First 30 Days

Within your first 30 days, you will attend a New Hire Orientation. Information regarding Drake-sponsored benefits will be provided, as well as an opportunity to make benefit elections. The orientation will conclude with lunch at the Hubbell Dining Hall.
