What is DTAH?: Dogtown After Hours (DTAH) is Drake’s largest alcohol alternative event, with around 800 students in attendance every year. Each year, DTAH takes over Olmsted to allow Drake students to participate in numerous safe events on campus. Events such as performances by Drake groups, world-record-breaking Nerf gun fights, giant glow-in-the-dark dodgeball games, concerts, rock walls, laser tag, carnival rides, and a fireworks show. In addition to these activities, students will be able to participate in service opportunities that benefit local communities and win prizes.
Dogtown After Hours (DTAH) began in 2011 after two Drake students passed away from alcohol poisoning. At its origin, DTAH was designed to raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol poisoning while simultaneously giving students a safe, alcohol alternative option for their Friday night festivities. Mission: Although DTAH remains an alcohol alternative event, the focus has shifted away from raising awareness for the dangers of alcohol poisoning. Today, DTAH aims to provide a safe space for students on a Friday night where fun can be had without the presence of alcohol. Dogtown After Hours focuses on creating a large-scale community event that doesn’t have alcohol at its core.
