Opportunities

‌Funding:

LPS students who want to travel to conferences can get their trip funded via the Student Travel and Research (STAR) Fund.

Students engaged in social justice activities and research should talk to Professor Cramer about grants made through The Slay Fund for Social Justice.

3+3 Program:

LPS students can take part in the 3+3 program, which enables them to earn their undergraduate degree in LPS, and their law degree from Drake University's Law School, in six years instead of seven. In the 3+3 program, Drake LPS majors can count 2 LAW courses, taken in their junior year or during 1L, towards their LPS graduation requirements.

Community Engaged Learning and Service:

Drake LPS majors engage in experiential and service learning in many of their LPS designated courses; they also sign up for service learning through The Office of Community Engaged Learning & Service, and by engaging in service learning during study abroad.

Global Learning:

LPS students can take advantage of several opportunities to enrich their undergraduate education, and transition into post-graduate life. Drake University Global Engagement offers many programs that promote global thinking and intercultural engagement. Many of our students study abroad for a semester or participate in a J-Term travel seminar to places like New York City, Uganda, South Africa, the Galapagos Islands, and Egypt. After graduation, students can spend a year living and working abroad through the Working Worldwide program
